Sales of liquid milk in Great Britain have been generally increasing between 2009 and 2018. Noticeable growth occurred in 2015 when sales volume rose to 5.5 billion liters, an increase of 288 million liters when compared to the previous year. Since then liquid milk sales volumes have fluctuated and most recently reached around 5.1 billion liters.
Milk production and uses
In 2022/23, 14.9 billion liters of milk were produced in the United Kingdom. Production previously peaked in 2020/21 at over 15 billion liters. Approximately 4.3 billion liters of milk were used in the production of cheese, with 6.7 billion liters used for liquid milk.

Liquid milk market expenditure has been gradually increasing since 2017 to around 3.37 billion British pounds in 2022. Semi-skimmed milk is the most popular pasteurized liquid milk in Great Britain, with a retail sales volume of 3.26 billion million liters sold as of the period ending June 12, 2022.
